- Technical Assistance:
The backyard playground has not been used recently due to reseeding the grass and filling in holes, but before children use the playground, the stairs must be blocked and the string between the decorative owl and the railing must be removed. We also discussed cribs.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 11 am - 12:45 pm. There were 11 children in care with the provider and two assistants for 26 points. I observed children involved in dramatic play; playing with manipulative toys; looking at books; drawing and eating spaghetti and sauce. I also observed a peaceful transition to nap/rest time to soothing music. No children's medications were on-site today. Record keeping was well-organized. The provider and both assistants have taken over 30 hours of annual training. If you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-120-A Description: A review of staff records today found that there were no references documented for assistants. Plan of Correction: They will give me the names today and I will call as soon as possible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: A review of children's records today found that some required information was missing. Evidence: Child # 6 did not have a signed agreement from parents explaining the home's Medication Policy and Emergency Procedures. Child # 4 did not have documentation of proof of identification within seven days (began 1/16.) Plan of Correction: The parents will sign the forms today and the identification will be brought in tomorrow.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-480-B Description: During today's inspection, some craft items were observed to be used that were not appropriate to the age of the children. Evidence: Some crafts made by children and displayed on the wall of the toddler area had small pieces that included small buttons (google eyes) and tiny pom poms that could be choking hazards. Plan of Correction: Removed from wall during inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-c Description: A review of records today found that a household member who is over 14 years old did not have a current Search of the Central Registry documented. Evidence: Household Member # 4, who is now over age 14, did not have results of a Search of the Central Registry as required. Plan of Correction: I will send it tomorrow.
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
