- Technical Assistance:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on August 9, 2016 at 10:00 a. m. and concluded at 11:45 a. m. The inspector met with the provider and Family Day Home standards were reviewed. There were nine children present with one of those children residing in the home, and points equaling 16 with two caregivers. Upon the inspector's arrival the children were observed having snack that each child brought in. Later, the children had free play and were observed coloring, building with blocks and other toys. The family day home is set-up with a variety of materials and equipment for children. Three children records were reviewed. Three household member records and two caregiver records were reviewed. Conversations were held with several children and two caregivers. Medication procedures were reviewed. Observations were made in the child care room. The last monthly evacuation drill was dated 7/22/16. Shelter-in-place 2/24/16 and 5/18/16.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-700-B Description: Based on review of medications the family day home did not have a current written medication authorization. Evidence: On 8/9/16, child #1 had a written medication authorization from the physician that had expired. Plan of Correction: Per provider, will have parent and physician sign and complete a new form.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-c Description: Based on review of records the family day home did not have the central registry finding updated within three years of the last report. Evidence: On 8/9/16, caregiver #1 had a central registry finding dated 5/22/13 and caregiver #2 had a central registry finding dated 6/4/13. Central registry findings are required to updated every three years. Plan of Correction: Per provider, both have been mailed on 7/19/16.
