Technical Assistance:
Discussed with provider: Reviewing household member records when home from college to ensure compliance.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today. Observed 10 children (30-points) directly supervised by the provider and 2 caregivers. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. A sample of 3 children's records, and 2 caregiver records were reviewed. The home and emergency procedures were also reviewed. No medications were reported on site. The children were engaged in various activities, to include: free play, reading, circle time, lacing activities, and outside time. A friend was potty training and hand washing routines were observed. The interior of the family day home was found to be clean, organized, and well supplied with toys and equipment for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-D
Description: Based upon record review, required drills were not completed. Evidence: There was no documentation of emergency evacuation drills being completed for 02/2016 and 05/2016.

Plan of Correction: Provider will make sure every month required drills are completed and documented.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-180-C
Description: Based upon record review, required documentation was incomplete. Evidence: Household member A's record is missing an up to date TB screening as required every 2 years.

Plan of Correction: The provider will have daughter do TB recheck next week as needed for school as well.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-B
Description: Based upon observation, required hand washing routines were not observed. Evidence: Prior to morning snack, 3 children moved from dramatic play to the snack tables without washing their hands prior to sitting down.

Plan of Correction: Provider discussed with assistants at the time of inspection required times to wash children's hands before and after eating.
