Technical Assistance:
Discussion was held on the topics of current enrollment, current staffing, the pets shots records will need to be updated in January 2017, and that the safety gate blocking the entrance to the basement steps may now need to be lowered in order to protect the infants now in care (infants are generally not crawling in this area, but suggested as a safety precaution since gate was installed). The Provider had a question to standard #350.F with regards to the possible use of a blanket. Answer - If a thin blanket is used in the sleeping area, the infant must be placed at the foot of the crib with the blanket tucked around the crib mattress and the blanket reaching only as far as the infant`s chest. The Provider has now changed year months of operation to reflect the school year.

Comments:
The following inspection took place between the hours of 10:30 am through 1 pm. Today, I met with the Provider on site at her Family Day Home (FDH) located in Springfield, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 3 children (12 points) with 1 caregiver. A total of 3 new children?s files and 3 staff/household member?s files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: drop off, diaper changing, play time, nap time, and other organized activities. If you should have any future questions, please call. Thank you. Charlie Perkins, Licensing Inspector (703) 309-3963
