54.1-3408 Provider must be MAT certified to administer prescription medication.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted with the provider beginning at 11:50 AM and ending at 2:00 PM. There were three children in care ages three months, two, and four years old for a total of eight points. The children were observed during outside recreation time, playing with blocks, and napping. Children were also observed eating snack which consisted of yogurt, apples, and crackers, and water. Three children?s records and one provider record were reviewed. Emergency escape drills were in compliance. The first aid kit, flashlight, and weather-band radio were in compliance. The provider is not Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified and cannot administer medications to children in care. Evidence: Child A, enrolled October 3, 2016, did not have a record. Plan of Correction: The provider stated that the forms were provided to the parents and were not returned. The provider contacted the parent during the inspection to request the completed documents.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-70-A Description: Based on review of children's records and interview with the provider, not all parents were provided with required information prior to their child's first day of attendance. Evidence: Child A, enrolled October 3, 2016, did not have documentation of written information including hours of operation, fees, check in and check out procedures, proof of liability insurance, policies for medication administration and provisions of the emergency preparedness plan. Plan of Correction: The provider stated that the forms were provided to the parents and they were not returned. The provider contacted the parent during the inspection to request the completed documents.
