Technical Assistance:
LI Anderson reviewed online Virginia Preservice Training with the Provider. This FREE online course introduces child care providers to important health and safety information and addresses other topics such as child development, inclusion, and Virginia's Subsidy and Licensing Programs. Participants will earn a 10-hour training certificate upon completion and a CEU! Although completion of the training is required for all staff who work in a program that participates in Virginia?s Child Care Subsidy Program, Provider has discontinued participation in the subsidy program. Please keep in mind all Virginia child care staff are welcome and strongly encouraged to take this FREE course. The Virginia Department of Social Services is partnering with Pennsylvania State University's Better Kid Care Program to bring this course to you. To complete this training please go online to LI Anderson discussed various options to reorganize/reduce/restructure/de-clutter the supplies & equipment used by the children in care. Provider transports children during scheduled field trips only. LI Anderson reviewed/discussed Licensing Transportation requirements found in FDH Standards 22VAC40-111-(13)-980; 22VAC40-111-(13)-990; 22VAC40-111-(13)-1000; and 22VAC40-111-(13)-1010.

The Licensing Inspector for the Family Day Home of Clydie Harrison conducted an unannounced monitor inspection on 1/25/2017. Upon arrival at 9:10 AM, there were three (3) children and the Provider present. Children present totaled six (6) points under the direct supervision of one (1) caregiver. Records for recently enrolled children who were present during today?s inspection were reviewed. In additional, Staff training records were reviewed. The Provider continues to participate in the Child Care Food Program and does not administer medication. Provider continues to work with the Smart Beginnings child care professional development initiative & has made changes/additions/improvement to the early learning environment, equipment & supplies. Daily activities include snacks/meals, quiet/independent activities, directed/group activities & outdoor play (weather permitting). Inspection concluded at 11:50 AM. The exit interview including reviewing the Risk Assessment and areas of non-compliance found during today?s inspection were reviewed with the Provider on 1/25/2017. Description: Based on inspection & discussion with the Provider, the Licensee failed to store refrigerated household medication together in a container or in a clearly defined area away from food. EVIDENCE: Household medication was stored in the refrigerator among other refrigerated food items. Medication was not separated from food items.

Plan of Correction: Provider will relocate medication to a locked cabinet. Corrected during inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-730-D
Description: Based on inspection & discussion with the Provider, the Licensee failed to medication in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. EVIDENCE: Refrigerated household over-the-counter medication was not locked.

Plan of Correction: Provider will relocate medication to a locked cabinet. Corrected during inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B
Description: Based on record review, the Licensee failed to ensure children records include all required documentation. EVIDENCE: Record for Child #1 did not include the address of the parent's place of employment and did not include the telephone number of two (2) designated persons to contact in case of an emergency if the parent cannot be reached.

Plan of Correction: Provider will have parents to complete information this evening.
