An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 01/27/2017 from 11:25am - 12:40pm. At the time of entrance there were two nonresident children and one resident child in care with two caregivers. The ages of children counted for a total of seven points. The infant was observed napping in his crib. Preschool children were observed eating lunch which consisted of homemade cheese pizza, potatoes, peas, fresh sliced mango and milk. One diaper change and potty training was observed. Records were reviewed for two children, the provider/assistant and two household members. The inspector additionally reviewed emergency supplies, hand washing, the posted menu, documentation of emergency practice drills, annual training, and the emergency preparedness plan for the FDH. The entire home and backyard play area was reviewed. One violation was observed in the area of physical environment. This violation was reviewed with the provider at the conclusion of the inspection.

Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that outside areas of the family day home shall be maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. The wooden boarder surrounding the outdoor sink counter has widespread areas of peeling and flaking paint. a. Peeling paint is a safety hazard if ingested.

Plan of Correction: The provider stated she is aware of the peeling paint and will make a repair this weekend. The provider further stated the weather conditions have not allowed for the area to be painted and/or sanded previously. Kids are always supervised when going to the backyard. The wood was replaced and the paint and flaking was eliminated. A picture to verify repair was emailed to the inspector on 01/30/2017.
