- Technical Assistance:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 2/15/17 at 10:00 a. m. and concluded at 12:00. The inspector met with the provider and some but not all Family Day Home standards were reviewed.
There were 12 children present with one of those children residing in the home, and points equaling 29 with three caregivers. Upon the inspector's arrival the children were observed having activities. They were engaged in group activities: number games at the table using counting bears and dice: finger plays and songs, and free play in home living, animals and other toys. Later, the children had their snack which they brought from home. The family day home is set-up with a variety of materials and equipment for children.
Six children's records were reviewed.
Three household member records and one caregiver record was reviewed.
Conversations were held with several children and all caregivers.
Medication procedures were reviewed.
Observations were made in the child care room.
The last monthly evacuation drill was dated 1/20/2017.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-700-B Description: Based on review of medications the family day home did not have a current written medication authorization. Evidence: On 2/15/17, child #1 had an Epipen on site, but there was no current written medication authorization from the physician or parent to administer the medication. Plan of Correction: Followed up with the parent while inspector was on site to get the written authorizations for the Epipen.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-C-1-b Description: Based on review of records the family day home did not have the search of the central registry clearances on file for one household member and one caregiver. Evidence: On 2/15/17, record #1 and #2 did not have current search of the central registry on file within required time frames. Plan of Correction: The search of the central registry clearances have been re-submitted.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor. Only programs enrolled in Virginia Quality will display a rating. Virginia Quality contact information for your region is available at the following link Regional Contacts.
