The outdoor wooden play structure which is installed and is currently not in use due to the age of the children enrolled. The wooden structure is installed in the middle of decking which is a hard surface. When the wooden structure is used in the future, a protective surface must be in place around the entire piece of equipment.
Today's visit was a routine monitoring inspection. The inspection began at 10:15am and concluded at 12:40pm. There were two caregivers present with five children and a total of eighteen points. During the inspection the outdoor area was viewed, nap time was observed for some of the children, two of seven children's records were reviewed, one out of two caregivers records were reviewed, infant care was observed. children's activities were observed, emergency supplies were viewed, and some policies and procedures were reviewed. It is the provider's policy not to administer medication and transportation. The provider stated it is herself and spouse are the only persons residing in the household. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-B Description: Based on the inspector's review of the family day homes written emergency preparedness plan, the provider failed to ensure the plan had been reviewed annually and updated as needed. Evidence: the inspector reviewed the emergency preparedness plan and the last documented review was dated 12/6/13. This plan is required to be reviewed and updated if needed at least annually. Plan of Correction: The provider will review the emergency preparedness plan by the end of the program day and document the review.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-940-B Description: Based on the inspector's observations, the provider failed to ensure to have an available thermometer to monitor the refrigerator and freezers. Evidence: The inspector could not locate a thermometer in the refrigerator or freezer to monitor the temperature. The provider stated it had broken. Plan of Correction: A thermometer will be purchased by the end of the program week.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-960-E Description: Based on the inspector's observations, there were six prepared bottles stored in the refrigerator and a portion of the bottles were not labeled with the child's full name and none of the bottles were dated. Evidence #1: The inspector observed two out of six bottles in the refrigerator and they were not labeled with the children's full names. Evidence #2: The inspector observed a total of six bottles and none of the bottles were dates. Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure prepared bottles are dated and labeled with the child's full name when more than one child with a bottle is in care.
