Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on June 22, 2017. There were two children present during the inspection with the provider totaling two points. The children were observed watching children's programming during the inspection. No medications are being administered in the family day home at this time. Two children's records and the provider's record were reviewed during the inspection. The outdoor play area is not being used at this time.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-770
Description: Based on observation and inspection of the family day home, the provider did not ensure that there was a working battery-operated flashlight. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on June 22, 2017, the batteries for the flashlight were not operable.

Plan of Correction: Provider will purchase batteries today.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A
Description: Based on review, the provider did not ensure that emergency evacuation procedures shall be practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care during all shifts that children are in care. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on June 22, 2017, there was no documentation of a fire/evacuation drill practiced in May 2017.

Plan of Correction: Provider will ensure that fire drills are documented.
