Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included using different material for floor coverings in the eating area to avoid tripping. We also discussed upcoming changes regarding background checks.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:00 am - 11:45 am. There were 8 children in care with the provider and two assistants for 27 points. I observed children engaged in dramatic play/pretend with small scarves and tutus. I also observed children building with plastic blocks; listening to a story and playing with cars and trucks. Record keeping was complete and well-organized. If you have any questions, please contact me at

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: During today's inspection, an area in the backyard was observed to not be maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: There were areas of the siding of the back of the shed where sharp areas were accessible at child height. Although some of these were repaired since last time, the glue is no longer keeping the area free of sharp areas.

Plan of Correction: My son will glue or tape it today.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280
Description: During today's inspection, a hazardous substance was observed in an area where it could be accessible. Evidence: In the area where children walk to access the backyard play area, a storage area is blocked with a large set of drapes, but under the drapes today was a can of gasoline and a lawnmower.

Plan of Correction: We will put any hazardous items in an area where they are inaccessible to children, and will look into getting a gate or locked closet for hazardous items for the shed.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
