Technical Assistance:

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 8/16/17 at 10:00 a. m. and concluded at 12:00. The inspector met with the provider and some but not all Family Day Home standards were reviewed.

There were 12 children present with one of those children residing in the home, and points equaling 24 with two caregivers. Upon the inspector's arrival the children were observed having activities. They were engaged in group activities: home living area, dolls, dress-up, games on computer tablets and free play with other toys. Later, the children had their snack. The family day home is set-up with a variety of materials and equipment for children.

Five children's records were reviewed.
Two caregiver files reviewed.
Conversations were held with several children and all caregivers.
Observations were made in the child care room.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-C
Description: Based on discussion the emergency drills could not be found. Evidence: On 8/16/17, the monthly drill log could not be located.

Plan of Correction: Monthly drills have been conducted will locate and post.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-220-B
Description: Based on discussion with the provider the MAT (medication administration training) just expired. Evidence; On 8/16/17, the MAT training for one caregiver expired on 7/19/17.

Plan of Correction: A MAT class is scheduled for this weekend.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-C-1-b
Description: Based on review of records the family day home did not have the search of the central registry clearance on one caregiver. Evidence: On 8/16/17, record #1 did not have a search of central registry on file within required time frames.

Plan of Correction: Will follow up today, and re-submit if needed.
