Technical Assistance:
Reviewed all current and upcoming changes to the background check procedures. All communication regarding background check procedures will only be distributed via email. Prior to receiving approval for a license, the provider shall provide documentation of a completed emergency plan and rabies certification for the household cat.

Comments:
An announced full renewal inspection was conducted today. The provider is not currently caring for children. This inspection was completed based on a review of caregiver records, administrative documents, and observations of the indoor and outdoor child care areas. This inspection was completed between approximately 10:20 am and 12:30 pm. Thank you for meeting with me today. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-790
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the provider has not posted all required emergency information. Evidence: The provider has not posted the poison control phone number, 911 information, and the contact information for an emergency back-up child care provider.

Plan of Correction: All information will be posted before children enter for care.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-A
Description: Based on interviews, it was determined that the provider has not created all emergency preparedness documents as required. Evidence: The provider has not created an emergency preparedness plan.

Plan of Correction: I will create the plan before children enter care.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-810
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the provider has not posted all emergency evacuation materials as required. Evidence: The provider has not posted an emergency evacuation map.

Plan of Correction: I will create the map and post it before children enter for care.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-940-B
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the provider does not have all food storage equipment as needed. Evidence: There is no thermometer inside the children's refrigerator.

Plan of Correction: I will buy a thermometer before we begin caring for children.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two areas of the backyard play areas have not been maintained in a safe manner as required. Evidence: 1. There is no gate or barrier at the bottom of the full set of brick steps in the backyard. 2. In the backyard play area there is a concrete decorative wall with bricks at the top. The bricks are at the height of the children. These bricks have not been covered in order to prevent injury to a child.

Plan of Correction: The gate is already scheduled to be installed this weekend. The bricks will also be covered this weekend.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-480-A
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the provider does not have a large enough variety of materials for the children. Evidence: The provider does not have an adequate supply of multicultural toys and materials for the children.

Plan of Correction: I will buy additional multicultural materials before the children start.
