Technical assistance today included record keeping, training requirements, physical environment.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11 - 12:30 pm. There were three children in care for 6 points. I observed children working on a collage, listening to an interactive story, playing with toys and music and movement activities. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A Description: Based on a review of records today, not all emergency drills were documented. Evidence: The last date of a fire drill was listed as 6/17, and no shelter-in-place drills were documented Plan of Correction: These were done every month but the form was lost. I will start doing shelter-in-place.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-70-A Description: Before the child's first day at school, not all required written information was documented as required. Evidence: Child # 1, who began 98/30/17, did not have completed agreements about the home's Medication Policy, Emergency Procedures, Liability Policy and an incomplete Information for Parents form. Plan of Correction: I will have call them today and have them fill out forms today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-90-A Description: Based on a review of records today, a child began care without documentation of immunizations as required. Evidence: Child # 1, who began 8/30/17, did not have documentation of immunizations today. Plan of Correction: She will bring them in tomorrow.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Some areas of the family day home were observed not to be maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: During today's inspection, a piece of rubber was observed to have detached from the sliding door entrance, posing a tripping hazard. In the kitchen sink in an area children pass to get to the bathroom,, a knife was observed accessible and cables posed a tripping hazard in the living room.. A belt was accessible in the children's bathroom accessible on a towel rack. The vacuum cleaner cord was accessible in the children's area. Plan of Correction: The landlord came today to fix the rubber. I will keep things that are dangerous on a high shelf. Items were removed during inspection. Cord was tied up today.
