Technical Assistance:
An exit meeting was completed by the licensing inspector with the provider to review today's inspection findings.

Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection on Monday, October 2, 2017 from approximately 11:00 am to 1:10 pm to determine compliance with licensing standards. During this inspection, there were 9 children present totaling 23 points being cared for by three caregivers. During this inspection, the children in care were observed by the licensing inspector outside playing at the designated play areas in the backyard. The children were engaged in play with peers and playing with age appropriate equipment while being supervised by staff. The licensing inspector completed observation of the children transitioning indoors, completing bathroom breaks and handwashing to prepare for lunch. During the inspection, the licensing inspector completed observation of the children eating their lunch in the kitchen area. The children's lunch today consisted of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, celery, peaches, and milk. After the children ate their lunch, the inspector complete observations of the children preparing for nap time in the designated areas. The designated areas to include the kitchen, bathroom, outdoor playground areas, and napping areas at this family day home were deemed appropriate. The diapering station was inspected as well. The inspector observed the required postings to include license, prior inspection summary, daily schedules, and the menu for this month. The first aid kit and emergency supplies, posted telephone numbers, and emergency drills were inspected and determined to be in compliance with the licensing standards. During this inspection, four children's, the provider's, one substitute provider/assistant's, and two household members' records were reviewed for compliance of standards. There are currently no medications being administered by providers and no transportation being provided. The licensing inspector completed some but not all licensing standards during this inspection. There were no violations cited during this inspection. The provider notified the inspector of the renewal application being sent by mail today.

The Department has not yet received a complete renewal application and annual fee from the family day home. The Department must receive a complete renewal application and fee prior to expiration of the license on 11/02/2017 or the Department cannot renew the license. If you have any questions about this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector, Tiffany Harris, at (804) 662-9772.
