Comments:
An unannounced renewal insepction was conducted today between 10am - 11:45am. There were 6 children (23 points) in direct care of 3 caregivers. The children were observed napping in cribs, playing in excersaucers and on the children's rug. The family day home had an ample supply of toys and materials for children's use. Infant bottles and cribs were observed to be in compliance. 6 children's records and 7 staff/household member records were reviewed. A good system is in place for record keeping. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-200-B
Description: Based on record review and staff interview, orientation for staff did not have the required training for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect. Evidence: 1. Staff #1 did not complete the required training for reporting child abuse and neglect upon hire. Staff # 1's started the daycare in 2010. 2. Staff #2 did not complete the required training for reporting child abuse and neglect upon hire. Staff # 2's hire date was 7/12/10. 3. Staff #3 did not complete the required training for reporting child abuse and neglect upon hire. Staff # 3's hire date was 5/30/17.

Plan of Correction: We will get the training completed.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D
Description: Based on observation and staff interview, the diapering surface was not being cleaned and sanitized after each diaper use. Evidence: At the diaper changing station, only a bottle of bleach solution was found. Provider stated that she did not use soap and water to clean the surface. Provider stated that she only used the bleach water solution to sanitize the changing pad.

Plan of Correction: I will prepare a bottle with soap and water to clean the surface after each diaper change.
