22 VAC-40-111-830-B: Shelter in place procedures shall be practiced a minimum of twice a year.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the provider beginning at 10:30 AM and ending at 11:50 AM. There were five child in care during the inspection. The children were ages 18 months, 3, 3, 3, and 5 years old for a total of ten points. The children were observed playing with trucks and cars, blocks, and action figures. Four child's record and two household members' records, and one staff record were reviewed and determined to be in compliance. The most recent emergency escape drill was conducted on October 20, 2017. The provider is not Medication Administration Training (MAT) certification. Provider must be MAT certified to administer prescription medication. The first aid kit, flashlight, and weather-band radio were in compliance. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-530-G Description: Based on observation and provider interview, the provider did not ensure that all children under the age of two years old were not using a pillow or filled comforter in a crib. Evidence: On November 16, 2017 a pillow was observed in the crib which is used for a child to sleep in. Plan of Correction: The pillow was removed by the provider during the inspection. The provider stated that she would no longer use a pillows in the crib. The provider stated that she would only use pillows when children are over the age of two as identified in the standards.
