- Technical Assistance:
We discussed the requirements for background checks. The risk assessment for a violation was provided. We talked about the need to read all e-mail regarding the upcoming fingerprint requirements and to submit the form as directed. We discussed age appropriate sleep equipment. Also, the supervised use of homemade toys.
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced monitoring inspection conducted from 12:45 PM to 4:20 PM. Today, there were eight children, infancy through age two years (twenty-seven points), with three caregivers. I viewed daily routines, activities, staffing, supervision, interactions with children, posted information, nutrition, five records for children, emergency supplies and drill records, four records for caregivers/residents, caregiver training, equipment, diapering procedures, indoor and outdoor areas. The children were responded to promptly and provided needed comfort, food/bottles, and interactions with caregivers. There was a variety of play equipment for the children in care. The caregivers were observed providing positive and patient guidance. Let me know if you have any questions. 540/430-9259
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-c Description: Based on a review of four records for caregivers/residents, and an interview with the provider, the criminal history record checks for resident 3 and caregiver 4 were not updated by three years since the dates of the last reports. Evidence: The most recent criminal history record reports in the file for each were dated December 20, 2014. The updated background checks have not been requested. Plan of Correction: The provider immediately opened the website for the background check requests and will complete the request forms for resident 3 and caregiver 4 so that the requests can be sent to the Virginia State Police in Richmond. The background checks will be updated, viewed and kept in the files. The provider will keep track of the dates of records so that updates can be done on time.
