Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on Monday, February 12, 2018, from 10:15am until 1:30pm. Present today were ten children totaling twenty-nine points with two caregivers and a volunteer. The children were singing songs when the inspector arrived. Later they played with trucks, airplane and cars. Children were identifying parts of the body.
Lunch: chicken nuggets, green beans, fruit cocktail, wheat bread and milk
Both caregivers are currently certified in first aid and CPR. No medications are dispensed to children.
The last practice evacuation drill was conducted 1/29/18. A practice shelter-in-place drill was conducted on the same day.
Previous violations had been corrected.
Five children's records and both caregiver records were inspected.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-A
Description: Based on observations, the provider did not ensure caregivers washed their hands with liquid soap and warm running water after each child's diaper was changed. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed caregivers change three diapers. The caregivers wore gloves but did not wash their hands after diapering each child.

Plan of Correction: Per Provider: "I am going to change the table to the upstairs hallway so they can wash their hands with every diaper change."

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-B
Description: Based on observations, the provider did not ensure all children washed their hands with liquid soap and warm running water after diapering. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed three children have their diapers changed. None of the children washed their hands afterwards.

Plan of Correction: Per Provider: "I am going to change the table to the upstairs hallway so they can wash their hands with every diaper change."

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D
Description: Based on observations, the provider did not ensure the diapering surface was non-absorbent and cleaned and sanitized after each use. Evidence: The diapering surface is torn and can not be cleaned and sanitized as a non-absorbent surface.

Plan of Correction: Per Provider: "A new changing pad will be purchased."
