Technical Assistance:
New background check requirements reviewed. Standard 610.A.1 was discussed - Use of media, such as video, shall be limited to a total of two hours per day.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 03/16/2018 from 11:07am - 1:20pm. There were 11 children in care with two caregivers. The ages of the children counted for a total of 22 points. Children were observed playing with blocks in the playroom and engaged in a large motor activity with a video. Lunch and nap was additionally reviewed. Records were reviewed for two caregivers and ten children. The entire home and backyard play area was reviewed during the renewal inspection. The violation is listed on the violation notice and was reviewed with the provider at the conclusion of the inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-210-A
Description: Based on record review and interview, the provider failed to ensure that caregivers shall obtain 16 clock hours of training annually in areas relevant to their job responsibilities. Evidence: 1. Written documentation indicates that caregiver 1 and caregiver 2 only obtained 12 hours of annual training in 2017. 2. The provider confirmed the accuracy of the training certificates on file.

Plan of Correction: Both caregivers obtained first aid and CPR training from the American Red Cross in 2017. The provider stated that she thought that CPR & first aid counted toward the 16 hour annual training requirement. Going forward, 16 hours of annual training will be obtained in 2018.
