A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM to review supplemental health and safety requirements. Today, there were ten nonresidential children and one resident child in care (ages infancy through four years/35 points) with two to three caregivers. Two school age children attended after school. I viewed operational responsibilities, general record keeping, children's information, food service, caregiver qualifications, caregiver training, emergency planning and drills, hazardous substances, bathroom use, hand washing, five records for children, five caregiver/resident records and one pet record. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. A violation was found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and is identified on the violation notice. Let me know if you have any questions. 540/430-9259
Standard #: VENDHOM-000-012-E Description: Based on a review of five records for caregivers/residents, and an interview with the provider, caregiver 3 did not complete training in first aid and CPR within thirty days of initial work as an assistant. Evidence: The first date as a caregiver was written as January 29, 2018. The first aid and CPR certification was obtained on March 10, 2018. Plan of Correction: In the future, when a course is difficult to find, the provider will contact a local child care administrator and ask about participation in their scheduled training. The provider will attempt to have all new caregivers trained within thirty days.
