Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 4/13/18 from 10:00am to 12:30pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. At the time of entrance there were ten children ages six months old to five years old in care with two caregivers present. Children were observed playing inside, playing outside, eating lunch, and during rest period. Records were reviewed for five children and three caregivers. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.

Standard #: VENDHOM-000-012-B
Description: Based on a review of three caregiver records, it was determined that the vendor did not ensure that within the first 90 days of employment all caregivers shall complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. Evidence: 1. The record for staff #2 did not include documentation to demonstrate complete of the all staff shall complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. 2. The record for staff #3 did not include documentation to demonstrate complete of the all staff shall complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. 3. Staff #1 confirmed that caregiver #2 and caregiver #3 had not completed the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within 90 days of employment

Plan of Correction: The vendor responded: Both staff will be required to complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. All new caregivers will complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within 90 days of employment.

Standard #: VENDHOM-000-012-E-1
Description: Based a review of three caregiver records, it was determined that the vendor did not ensure that all staff have a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the age of children in care. Evidence: 1. The record for caregiver #2 did not contain documentation for a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the age of children in care. 2. The record for caregiver #3 did not contain documentation for a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the age of children in care. 3. Caregiver #1 confirmed there was not documentation for to demonstrate neither caregiver #2 or caregiver #3 had a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the age of children in care within 30 days of employment.

The record for caregiver #3 did not contain documentation for a current certification in first aid appropriate to the age of children in care. 3. Caregiver #1 confirmed there was not documentation for to demonstrate neither caregiver #2 or caregiver #3 had a current certification in first aid appropriate to the age of children in care within 30 days of employment.

Plan of Correction: Caregiver #2 and caregiver #3 will complete a course to obtain certification in first aid appropriate to the age of children in care.
