Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included new information concerning background checks. The number to call regarding fingerprinting is 804 726-7544. We also discussed bandaids and toddlers.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:40 am - 12:10 pm today. There were 10 children present with the provider and two assistants for 29 points. I observed children on indoor riding toys; playing with manipulative toys; rolling a ball in a circle; admiring their artwork of pasting paper pieces and taking turns to stand and present a song or rhyme or counting to the rest of the children at the table. I also saw preparation for lunch. If you have any questions, please contact me at brenda.kuhlman@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-920
Description: Based on observation today, the menu did not list substituted food as served for lunch today. Evidence: The children had pizza but the menu posted read chicken nuggets.

Plan of Correction: Every other week we have pizza as a special treat on Friday. I will post a note about this.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-100-A
Description: Based on a review of children's records, there was no documentation of a child's physical exam within 30 days of attendance. Evidence: Child # 3, who began care 1/18, had a record of immunizatons but no physical examination.

Plan of Correction: I will talk to the mother tonight.
