54.1-3408 Provider must be MAT certified to administer prescription medication.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:00am ? 12:00pm with the provider and her assistant. There were 13 children in care, (one is a resident child) ranging from 16 months to three years of age, for a total of 29 points. Children were observed playing with age appropriate toys, playing outside, having circle time and eating lunch. Lunch today is chicken nuggets, pasta with tomato sauce, oranges and milk. Childcare areas and supplies were observed. Four children's records and three caregiver/household member records were reviewed. Emergency drills were reviewed. The provider is Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified but there were no medications on site today. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A Description: Based on review of the emergency drill log, it was determined that emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly. Evidence: the last documented fire drill was 3/30/2018 Plan of Correction: Conducted a fire drill on 4/30/2018 but did not document it. Will conduct another fire drill today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-120-B Description: Based on review of caregiver records, it was determined that there was not documentation that two or more references as to character and reputation as well as competency were checked before employment. Evidence: Caregiver A, date of hire: 12/13/2017, did not have documentation of two references in their file. Plan of Correction: Reference checks were conducted but I didn't document them. Will put documentation of the reference checks in her file.
