- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included required forms, postings and physical environment.
A scheduled inspection was conducted today from 10 am - 12:30 pm today. There were no children in care. The provider will care for preschoolers and infants in the sunny back room of the home, with access to the outdoor play areas. We discussed record keeping, physical environment and program. If you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-760-A-1 Description: Based on a review of the first aid kit, there were some items missing today. Evidence: There were no triangular bandages available (2 are needed) Plan of Correction: We will get them.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-A Description: Based on a review of records today, there was no written emergency preparedness and response plan available. Plan of Correction: It was printed out today. We will fill it out and post it in the children's area.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there were some areas not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: The wooden railings attached to the outdoor staircase were observed to be very shaky. Gates were up to block the space between deck posts, but they did not cover the entire play area today. The air conditioning/heat pump unit was accessible. Indoors: The gate blocking the stairs was observed to not be securely attached to the wall. Plan of Correction: We will work on the staircase and block the air conditioning unit. We will get more gates to block the whole deck.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280 Description: Based on observation today, not all hazardous items were inaccessible. Evidence: In the area adjacent to the children's area, some drawers in the kitchen have been made inaccessible with child-proof locks, but not all cabinets containing hazardous items were locked today. Plan of Correction: We have the kit and will finish putting all the locks on this week.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-390-B Description: Based on observation, individual locations for personal items for children in care were not available today. Plan of Correction: We will put storage cupboards for each child.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-430-D Description: Based on observation today, the stairway for use by children and parents were not constructed to prevent falling over or through. Evidence: Two thin railings for assistance when using the stairs had too much space between the railings, leaving space where a child could fall through. Plan of Correction: We will put up lattice on the stair railings as soon as possible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-520-A Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there were not enough cribs available today. Evidence: There was a crib mattress available today but other playcribs were not appropriate for sleeping. Plan of Correction: The mattress was delivered but not the crib. Two cribs with mattresses were ordered from Amazon. They are supposed to be delivered today or tomorrow.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-E Description: Based on observation today, there was no step-on trash disposal for diapers available today. Plan of Correction: We will get one today.
