Technical Assistance:
The following was discussed: Requirements for Substitutes and Assistants

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:00am - 11:15am. Upon arrival there were 7 children in care totaling 18 points with 2 caregivers. A sample of 4 children's records and 3 caregiver records were reviewed. The provider does not administer medication nor provide transport. Children were observed playing outside on the front deck.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-750-C
Description: Based on observation and interview the licensee did not ensure all requirements were met in regards to medication administration. Child #4 had an authorization form to have a prescription topical ointment applied. The licensee stated she had a rash and applied the ointment during that time. The licensee did not have Medication Administration Training (MAT)

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee during the exit interview. The licensee will no longer apply topical creams that are prescription.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure all areas and furnishings of the home, inside and outside were maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: The covered front porch had a few loose wooden boards and some boards had a bout a 1/2 inch of space between them. Children were observed playing on the deck.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee during the exit interview : The licensee is aware and has someone scheduled this summer to fix the boards.
