Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on June 6, 2018 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The inspection was initiated at 10:30 am and concluded at 12:30 pm. Upon the inspectors arrival six children were in care with the provider for a value of eleven points. The provider and children were outside playing in the back yard with small trikes and in the castle playhouse. Upon returning inside children had bathroom breaks, washed their hands and had water. The provider and children gathered and sang the good morning song naming each child as they went along. Each child also had the opportunity to tell the group something about themselves. Children listened to children's songs, danced and played with toys in the main play room of the family day home. Later children washed their hand in preparation for lunch. Children watched a video of the "Gingerbread Man" while the provider prepared lunch. Today's lunch consisted of meatloaf, squash, grapes, wheat bread and milk. The family day home has age appropriate materials. New items of dress up clothes, parachute and sand have been added. The following required information was posted: the License, most recent inspection notice, emergency numbers, daily schedule, food allergies/dietary restrictions/food sensitivities, and menu. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete with extra items available. The inspector interacted with the caregiver and children in care. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found. Two caregiver records were reviewed along with six children's records. The caregivers have current CPR and first aid training. Medications are not being administered. The provider does not provide transportation. The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 05/18/2018. The two shelter-in-place drill for 2017 were completed on 05/16/2017 and 09/12/2017. A lock down drill was conducted on 11/06/2017. The attendance record was reviewed. The emergency preparedness plan was current. Children do not use the deck on the rear of the house. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.
