Technical Assistance:
The Virginia State Police criminal history record check is no longer required due to national fingerprinting. New staff need to have fingerprinting results prior to hire. The search of the central registry (CPS check) is due to be mailed within 7 days of hire and returned within 30 days. All caregivers and household members over the age of 18 must complete fingerprinting no later than September 30, 2018. Background checks are now valid for five years from the original date the check was completed.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with two assistants. There were ten children present, ranging in age from 17 months to 10 years of age, totalling 15 points. The older children were watching an age appropriate movie while the younger children had rest time. All the children woke for afternoon snack and a coloring activity. Four household files and two staff files were reviewed - please see Supplemental Summary for missing items. All caregivers are current in first aid and CPR. Five children's files were reviewed and are in compliance. There are no medications for day care children on site - Medication Administration Training is required to administer medication to day care children. Time of today's inspection: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please call me if you have any questions 540-219-4122 or e-mail tara.barton@dss.virginia.gov.
