- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included current information regarding background checks. The number for fingerprints and background check information is the Office of Background Investigations at 804 726-7884.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted this morning from 9:45 - 11:30 am. There were 11 children present with the provider and two assistants for 34 points. I observed four children painting with green, yellow, pink and blue paint while others played on indoor toddler climbing equipment and rode trikes/car. The provider turned the children's interest in an emergency radio into a learning opportunity by counting the number of knobs and beginning a counting fingerplay. If you have any questions, please contact me at email@example.com
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on a review of records today, there was some required information missing from one file. Evidence: The record of Child # 1, who began care 8/28/18, did not have a signature on the Information for Parents form and there were names and addresses but no phone number for the two listed emergency contacts. Plan of Correction: I will have the parent sign and complete the form today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-230-A Description: Based on a review of written documentation of staff training, there was no documentation of first aid/CPR training for Assistant # 1. Evidence: Assistant # 1 reported that she took the training and will bring in the certificate. Plan of Correction: She will bring in her certificate.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there was an area of the family day home that was not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: There was a small area in between the playroom and sitting area where some paint was observed to be peeling at child height. Plan of Correction: This is from the chair. I will tape it or paint it and and put something up to block the area.

In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K.
