Technical Assistance:
During the inspection, the following were discussed with the provider: Children's records, caregiver records, caregiver qualifications and training requirements, USDA food requirements and transportation/field trip requirements. The process to become a subsidy provider was also discussed.

Comments:
An announced initial inspection was conducted on 10/18/18 from 10:05am until 11:45am. The applicant intends to operate a family day home for up to 10 children, ranging in age from 18 months to 10 years. At the time of entrance, there were 4 children in care, for a total of 9 points, with the provider and one assistant. Children were observed participating in morning learning activities and getting ready for lunch. The entire home, to include areas where children will be cared for, bathroom facilities, kitchen and the outside play area were inspected. First aid and emergency supplies, documentation of emergency practice drills, the emergency preparedness plan and required postings were reviewed. 4 children's records and 3 provider/assistant/household member records were also reviewed. A six month conditional license is recommended to allow the applicant the opportunity to demonstrate continued compliance with the Standards for Licensed Family Day Homes. All future inspections will be unannounced. The first unannounced inspection will be conducted within 60 days from the date the license is issued. Please contact the inspector at 757-334-4329 if there are any questions.
