An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 8:00am-10:00am. Upon arrival there were 5 children in care totaling 10 points with 1 caregiver. Five children's and 2 household/caregiver records were reviewed. Children were observed doing a puzzle and singing and dancing. One child was observed sleeping on a cot.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-A Description: Based on a record review the licensee did not ensure all required information was kept for each enrolled child. Evidence: Child #5 did not have 1 of the 2 required emergency contact addresses or the first date of attendance documented in the child's record. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee during the inspection: The licensee will contact child #5's parent and document a second emergency contact to include address and phone number.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure all areas and furnishings of the home were maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: In the living room, a child was observed sleeping on a cot in front of the television.. The large screen television was on a coffee table stand and was not secured to prevent tipping Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee during the inspection: The proper equipment to secure the television has been ordered and she is waiting for it to arrive.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280 Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure potentially poisonous substances were inaccessible to children. Evidence: In the living room/dining area where the children sleep there was a liquid oil burner plugged into an outlet, in reach of the children in care. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee during the inspection: The plug-in was removed during the inspection.
