Technical Assistance:
Discussed with the provider renewal process of the license, future modification of the license, diapering area, background check for household member.

An unannounced non mandated monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:30 am to 11:45 am. The purpose of the inspection was to assess previous violations. There were 4 children (9 points) present with one caregiver. The children were observed playing with home living toys, puzzles, getting a diaper change and washing hands. Attendance records, emergency drill records and menu were reviewed and found to be current and posted. 4 children's records and two household member's records were reviewed. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-E
Description: Based on observation, a portable heater was not located three feet from combustible materials and did not have a barrier while it was within reach of children. Evidence: 1. A portable heater was observed to be in use in the family day home. 2.The portable heater was located on a wooden shelf that had clothes and a stack of papers was placed right in front of the heater. 3. There was no barrier around the heater and the metal mesh cover in the front of the heater was hot to touch.

Plan of Correction: The heater will be placed on a higher shelf and will be not within children's reach. The heater was removed during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D
Description: Based on observation, the diaper changing was not non-absorbent. Evidence: There was a tear at the top of the diaper changing pad making it an absorbent surface.

Plan of Correction: I will get a new diaper pad tomorrow.
