Technical Assistance:
The licensee stated the swing set is not currently being used. The inspector referred the licensee to the most current playground safety manual for family day homes.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:45am-11:15am. Upon arrival there were 11 children in care, totaling 28 points and 2 caregivers. Children were observed being read a story and doing flash cards. Infants were observed sleeping in cribs and one was fed a bottle. A sample of 3 caregiver/household records were reviewed in addition to 3 children's records.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-A
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure small electrical appliances were not plugged -in. Evidence: There was a leaf blower plugged in on the front porch where the children play. It was in reach of the children in care.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided during the exit interview: The leaf blower will be unplugged and placed out of reach of the children.

Standard #: 63.2-1720.1-B-2
Description: Based on a record review the licensee did not have the required background checks. Evidence: Household member #2 did not have documentation of having a fingerprint.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided during the exit interview: Household #2 has gone to have fingerprinting done, however, the results were never sent. The licensee will follow-up with Office of Background Check Investigations.
