Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on on 12/17/18 from 10:15am to 11:15am to review supplemental health and safety requirements. At the time of the inspection there were eight children in care, ages three months old to four years old (20 points), with two caregivers present. Records were reviewed for five children, three caregivers/household members, and two pets. Children were observed playing with outside, eating lunch, and playing inside. There was no medication at the family day home. Emergency plan and emergency supplies were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed with the provider during the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-350-E
Description: Based on observation, it was determined that the licensee did not ensure that hot water at taps available to children shall be maintained within a range of 105?F to 120?F. Evidence: 1. The hot water at the faucet in the bathroom located adjacent to the kitchen measured 124.2 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Caregiver #1 acknowledged the water temperature was not within the required limits.

Plan of Correction: The provider responder: The water temperature was turned down on the hot water heater during the inspection.
