- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided in the following areas with the provider: background checks, TB screening, the use of DSS model forms; all cribs and baby gates must be compliant with CPSC; the requirements of children's records, physical examinations, immunization records, and proof of identity; evacuation drills should be practiced and documented monthly; the storage of food meals provided must meet USDA requirements.
An announced initial inspection to become a Licensed Family Day Home was conducted on 12/28/18 at 10:00am. The entire home and outside play area along with the equipment to be used by the children was inspected. There were no children in care. Any areas of the standards related to direct service that were not determined during the initial inspection will be determined at the first unannounced inspection following issuance of the license. Two provider/household member records were reviewed during the inspection. Emergency procedures and emergency supplies were reviewed. All future inspections will be unannounced. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed with the provider during the exit interview.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-760-A Description: Based on a review of the family day home's emergency supplies, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that the first aid kit contained all of the required items. Evidence: 1. There was no triangle bandages in the first aid kit. 2. caregiver #1 confirmed there was no triangle bandages in the first aid kit. Plan of Correction: The provider responded: I will purchase triangle bandages for the first aid kit.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-A Description: Based on a review of documentation and interview, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that the amily day home shall have a written emergency preparedness and response plan. Evidence: 1. There was no written emergency preparedness and response plan for the family day home. 2. Caregiver #1 confirmed there was no written emergency preparedness and response plan for the family day home. Plan of Correction: The provider responded: I will complete a written emergency preparedness and response plan for the family day home.
