On January 24, 2019, an unannounced non-mandated monitoring inspection was conducted during the hours of 10:33 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. Eleven children were enrolled and nine children were present, in the care of three caregivers. One additional child was visiting and one resident child was present in the home. One child's record and three caregivers' records were reviewed and/or updated. One child's medication, authorization form and administration log were reviewed. Program observation was completed. Activities included: snack; handwashing; infant feeding; dancing with scarves/gross motor; play with toys and preparation for outdoor play. Thank you for your time during today's inspection. Please call or email if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards and/or I may be of assistance to you.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-B
Description: Based on observation and discussion with caregivers on January 24, 2019, the program staff failed to ensure children's hands were washed with liquid soap and water before eating snack. Evidence: 1. On this date, children's hands were not washed before morning snack until prompted by the licensing inspector (L.I.). 2. Caregivers confirmed that children seated at the snack table had not washed hands.

Plan of Correction: In the future, children will wash hands prior to eating meals/snacks.

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.

Virginia Quality is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for early care and education facilities serving children ages birth through pre-K. Eligible child care facilities must be fully licensed, licensed exempt and a VDSS subsidy vendor, or a voluntary registered day home and a VDSS subsidy vendor. Only programs enrolled in Virginia Quality will display a rating. Virginia Quality contact information for your region is available at the following link Regional Contacts.
