63.2 Child abuse and neglect
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the provider and one assistant beginning at 8:30 AM and ending at 10:15 AM. There were seven children in the care during the inspection. The children were ages 12 months 19 months, 2, 2, 4, 4, and 4 years old. The older children were observed coloring. The younger children were observed playing with toys. Bathroom and hand washing procedures were observed. Five children's records were reviewed. Two household records and one staff record were reviewed and in compliance. Two pet records were reviewed and in compliance. The most recent emergency escape drill was 12/11/18. The most recent shelter-in-place drill was 9/26/18. The first aid kit, flashlight, and weather-band radio were observed and in compliance. There were no medications on site to review as the provider does not administer medication. The provider and assistant have current First Aid and CPR certification. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-960-E Description: Based on observation, not all of the bottles were labeled with the child's full name and the date as required. Evidence: There were four bottles that were not labeled with a child's name and the date. Plan of Correction: The provider stated that she and the assistant would ensure that bottles would be labeled and dated.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on the review of five children's records, it was determined that not all of the children's records were complete. Evidence: Child A and B's records were missing the insurance policy number. Child C's record was missing appropriate legal paperwork when a custodial parent does not authorize the provider to release the child to the other parent and insurance policy number. Plan of Correction: The provider stated that she would obtain the missing information from the parent's
