An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 12:00pm-1:45pm. A total of 5 children [15pts] were present with 1 caregiver. Observations were made during naptime, transitions to snack, and infant bottle feeding. A sample of 5 children's records, emergency drills, 1 caregiver record, caregiver training and other documents were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are documented on the violation notice. If you have any questions, please contact me at Ivaco.Clarke@dss.virginia.gov or 571-835-5505.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on records reviewed, 4 out of 5 children's records did not include the required information. Evidence: The records for Child #2, #3, #4 and #5 did not include medical insurance policy numbers. Plan of Correction: I will obtain the information from the parents by the end of the day.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-530-F Description: Based on observations, soft bedding was used around an infant in care. Evidence: Child #5 was observed sleeping in an infant napper with a filled blanket, and a small stuffed animal. Plan of Correction: I will use only one non-filled swaddling blanket.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-B Description: Based on observation, the caregiver did not ensure that children's hands were washed during the appropriate times. Evidence: During transitions from naptime, children's handwashing was not observed prior to snack time. Plan of Correction: I will update my transitions/routines for naptime and snack time. Children's hands are always washed before naptime.
