Comments:
An announced Initial Inspection was conducted today from 8:55am to 10:30am. There were 3 children (8 of points) with the Provider and 1 assistant present today, within the supervision guidelines. Provider and (7) household members records were reviewed and found complete. All enrolled children?s files (4) were reviewed. Overall, good systems are in place. The home was found clean and supplied with toys and programming equipment appropriate for the children currently in care. Adequate space determined for the requested capacity of (5) children. Children were observed finishing breakfast (waffles, grapes and milk) playing freely, using flashcards to practice their colors and shapes, singing and dancing. The provider is not currently MAT trained to administer medications to the children, however the provider mentioned that she is hoping to take the training soon. Emergency procedures, provider contract, First Aid/CPR certification was verified. There are currently 2 cribs found on site and meet the CPSC requirements. Violations found today were reviewed with the provider and an appropriate corrective action was provided. Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns at whitney.mcgrath@dss.virginia.gov.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280
Description: Based on observation and interview, potentially poisonous substances are not stored away inaccessible to children. Evidence: There is a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the cabinet under the sink in the children's bathroom. The lock that is on the cabinet door is magnetic, but it was not latched at the time of the inspection. There is an aerosol air freshener on the back of the toilet in the children's bathroom. The provider confirmed that the children who are potty trained use the bathroom unattended.

Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection.
