Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on June 6, 2019 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The inspection was initiated at 11:00 am and concluded at 1:00 pm. Upon the inspectors arrival eight children were in care with two caregivers for a value of seventeen points. One infant was observed playing in an exersaucer with a caregiver sitting next to him. The other seven children had just finished listening to "Chick-a Chick-a Boom Boom" and were telling the inspector about the story. Children had bathroom breaks and washed their hands before sitting down to lunch. Today's lunch consisted of chicken nuggets, greens, peaches, bread and milk. Later children listened to stories before taking their nap. Nap time was observed with soft music being played. The caregivers spent one on one time with the infant who was awake, playing with toys. The family day home has age appropriate materials. The following required information was posted: license, most recent inspection notice, emergency numbers, daily schedule, food allergies/dietary restrictions/food sensitivities, and menu. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete with extra items available. The inspector interacted with the caregiver and children in care. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice. Three caregiver records were reviewed along with eight children's records. Two caregivers have current CPR and first aid training. Medications are not being administered. The provider does not provide transportation. The attendance record was reviewed. The emergency preparedness plan was current. The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 05/16/2019. The two shelter-in-place drill for 2018 were completed. One of the two required shelter-in-place drills for 2019 was documented on 01/24/2019. A second shelter-in-place drill will need to be completed by the end of the year. A lock down drill was conducted on 06/15/2018. Children do not use the deck on the rear of the house. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-400-B-7
Description: Based on documentation review, the provider did not ensure the emergency preparedness plan contained continuity of operations procedures to ensure that essential functions are maintained during an emergency. Evidence: The emergency preparedness plan did not contain written plans on how the provider will ensure continuous operation procedures are in place to ensure essential functions are maintained during an emergency. This subsidy requirement became effective on October 17, 2018 and was required to be in place by December 15, 2018.

Plan of Correction: Per the provider: I will print a copy of the updated emergency preparedness template and completed the procedure missing from the plan.
