Technical Assistance:

Use of a diaper genie does not meet the requirement of the Standards for diaper disposal as hands must be used to open a diaper genie. A covered disposal system that is not hand operated (such as a lidded step on diaper pail) must be used. As the provider is not currently Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified and cannot administer prescription medication. One play area in the backyard is currently not being used by the children as the neighbor must remove a tree prior to installing resilient surfacing under the equipment. A fence is being installed to ensure that the children cannot go behind the garage area.

Comments:

An announced, mandated initial inspection was conducted today. The inspector arrived at 10:15 AM and departed at 11:35 AM. Four children, totaling nine points, were in care with the caregiver. Three caregiver/household records and four children's records were reviewed. The entire home and backyard where children will have outdoor play were inspected. The emergency preparedness plan was reviewed. An exit meeting was conducted with the provider prior to closure of the inspection.
