63.2 Licensure and Registration Procedures

An unannounced renewal study was conducted from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. There were ten children in care with the provider and two assistants ages, 4 months, 4 months, 7 months, 15 months, 18 months, 21 months, 21 months, 2 years, 2 years, and 4 years for a total of 31 points. The children were observed participating in free play, eating lunch, and preparing for nap. Lunch is provided from home. Ten children's records were reviewed. The provider, three household members, and two assistant records were reviewed. There are reportedly no medications being administered to children in the family day home at this time. The provider is current in CPR and First Aid training. The most recent emergency escape drill was conducted 06/03/2019. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-520-A
Description: Based on observation of the family day home it was determined that not all procedures for cribs were followed. Evidence: Child C (Age 4 months) was observed sleeping in a bassinet, which has mesh sides.

Plan of Correction: Child C was moved to their crib during the inspection and the bassinet was removed from the daycare area.

Description: Based on review of the family day home it was determined that not all pillows used for children had a pillowcase. Evidence: Child A (Age 4) and Child B (Age 2) were observed using pillows that did not have pillowcases.

Plan of Correction: The provider replaced the pillows for child A and child B with pillows with pillowcases.

Standard #: 63.2-1720.1-B-2
Description: Based on review of two assistant records it was determined that not all employees had documentation of determination letter based on a fingerprint check. Evidence: Staff A (start date: 3/20/2019) did not have documentation of a fingerprint check on file.

Plan of Correction: The provider instructed Staff A to obtain the correct fingerprint check during the inspection.
