Technical Assistance:
Standard 870.C was reviewed and discussed- The family day home shall schedule snacks or meals so there is a period of at least 1 1/2 hours, but no more than three hours, between each meal or snack unless there is a scheduled rest or sleep period for children between the meals and snacks.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 06/18/2019 from 9:40am - 12:00pm. There were 11 children in care with three caregivers. One resident child was also in care. The ages of the children counted for a total of 23 points. Children were observed playing with play dough, puzzles, manipulative toys and reading books. Morning snack was served which consisted of orange juice and cheddar cheese crackers. Records were reviewed for ten children, one household member and six caregivers. One violation was observed in the area of home maintenance and was discussed with the provider at the conclusion of the inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that outside areas of the family day home shall be maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. One of the two benches, in the backyard play area, has 13 areas of peeling paint. a. Peeling paint is hazardous if ingested and picked at by children.

Plan of Correction: The bench will be repainted this weekend.
