The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection from 9:45am - 11:30am. There were ten children in care for a total of twenty five points with two caregivers. The children were observed playing outside, playing with blocks and during lunch. Five children's records and three caregiver's records were reviewed. Violations from the previous inspection were also reviewed and all had been corrected. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A Description: Based on review of drill documentation, the provider failed to practice and document evacuation drills. Evidence: 1. The inspector reviewed the documentation evacuation drills. There were no evacuation drills documented for the months of January 2019 through June 2019. Plan of Correction: The provider said the family day home will practice and document two evacuation drills each month from July 2019 through December 2019 to make up for the missing drills.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to maintain the outside play area in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the outside play area. There was black plastic protruding through the mulch under the swings creating tripping hazards. Plan of Correction: The provider will rake mulch in these areas.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to have protective covers in all outlets. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the family day home. There were four outlets uncovered on a power strip beside the file cabinet. Plan of Correction: Protective covers were placed in the outlets during the inspection.
