Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, July 18, 2019 to determine the providers compliance with family day home standards. The inspection was initiated at 10:00am and concluded at 12:00pm. Upon the inspector's arrival six children were in care for a value of fifteen points with one caregiver. The provider and children were observed at the table making paper chains with red, white and blue paper. Children also glued colored paper shapes on paper and spelled their names. Children played with toy cars, tablet and blocks. Later children had a circle time where they reviewed classroom rules (be kind to your friends, inside voices..), reviewed colors and flash cards. The caregivers interacted in a positive and nurturing manner with children in care. The provider had the following posted: emergency phone numbers, last inspection notice, attendance sheets, menu and the license. Today's lunch menu listed beef franks, wheat bread, french fries, cut grapes and milk. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were checked and found complete. All areas used for child care were inspected. The family day home is equipped with age appropriate materials. The inspector interacted with children in care and the caregiver. An evacuation drill was documented on 07/01/2019 and the one of the two required shelter-in-place drills was documented on 01/03/2019. A second shelter-in-place will need to be completed by the end of the year. Six children's records, one caregiver and one household record were reviewed. Medication is not being administered. No transportation provided. The caregiver has current CPR & First aid certification. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.
