The next anticipated inspection will be the provider?s renewal inspection. Provider was reminded to have all renewal application documents completed and sent into licensing office 45 days prior to expiration for processing. The renewal application is available on the VDSS website.
Today an unannounced Monitoring inspection took place between 11:15am and 12:35pm. There were 7 children present (2 of which reside in the home) with the provider and 1 assistant for a total of 20 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed watching cartoons on TV, playing freely, eating lunch (chicken nuggets, apple sauce and crackers) and doing puzzles/colroing. Diaper changing and hand washing procedures were observed. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, menu and attendance were observed during this inspection. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please email me at email@example.com.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-880 Description: Based on observation, the Family day homes did not follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Evidence: The children were served chicken nuggets, apple sauce and crackers for lunch. The USDA recommends that children be served a meat/meat alternate, vegetable, fruit and grains for lunch. There was no vegetable served with lunch today. Plan of Correction: I printed our menu off the DSS website. I'll add a vegetable to the menu.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-900-B Description: Based on observation, children were permitted to drink while walking and laying down. Evidence: Child #5 was observed walking about and laying on the floor of the family day home while drinking a bottle for approximately 30 minutes. Plan of Correction: We'll start putting her in a high chair when she has her bottles.
