Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included ideas for room renovation the possibility of enlarging the capacity.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:15 - 12:30 pm. There were five children in care with the provider and assistant for 13 points. I observed children resting after a morning walk, playing with building toys and singing Old MacDonald, ABC song, and others. I observed children answering questions about colors and letters in a comfortable way during play.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, there were some areas in the backyard found not to be maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
Despite obvious improvements in the backyard, there were observed today a loose wooden rail on the back fence and some sharp areas in the wood at child height near the play structures. The cable had been tightened, but areas were still loose where plastic staples had come off. There was also a loose nail where one of the plastic staples was attached.
Peeling paint was observed on the walls of the deck area and entrance at child height.

Plan of Correction: We will cover some areas with duct tape and tighten the cables, although the cable company said that it was as tight as it can be. We will make sure it isn't accessible to the children. The nail will be fixed and for the peeling paint, we will consult an expert for ideas on what to do for this.
