Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from approximately 10:30am-12:45pm There were 9 children (21 points) directly supervised by 3 staff. The home, 2 staff records, 4 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and eating snack. Diapering procedures were also observed. There was a supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-920
Description: Based on observation and interview with childcare staff it was determined that the lunch menu was not given to parents or placed in an area accessible to parents.

Evidence: During inspection: 1. the staff stated that there was a new system via the food program and they did not yet know a way to make sure parent received it.
2. there was no menu posted in the home.

Plan of Correction: Provider stated that she will have proof of parent receipt of menu or post it.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-30-C*
Description: Based on review of provider documentation it was determined that all required background checks for provider were not maintained.

Evidence: During inspection a current sworn disclosure statement was not made available to to inspector.

Plan of Correction: Provider stated that she would provide to inspector at a later date.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-160
Description: Based on review of household member documentation it was determined that all required background checks were not maintained.

Evidence: During inspection a current sworn disclosure statement was not made available to to inspector.

Plan of Correction: Provider stated that she would provide to inspector at a later date.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-A
Description: Based on observation it was determined that caregivers did not wash their hands after coming in contact with bodily fluids.

Evidence: During inspection 2 of 3 caregivers were observed wiping the noses of children and not washing their hands after.

Plan of Correction: Provider stated that she was nervous in the presence of the new inspector and hand washing procedures are usually followed and will continue to be.
