54.1-3408 Provider must be MAT certified to administer prescription medication.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:45 - 11:45 am with the provider. There were five children in care, ranging from 16 months to four years of age, for a total of 11 points. The children were observed having free play with a variety of toys, and completing a seasonal arts and crafts project. Three children's records were reviewed. Three caregiver/household member records were reviewed and in compliance. Required information was posted. The last emergency escape drill was conducted: 10/30/19 and the last shelter-in-place drill was conducted: 8/30/19. The provider is not Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified and cannot administer medication to children in care. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on review of three children's records, it was determined that not all records contained all required information. Evidence: the record for child #1 (date of first enrollment: 7/29/19) did not have the name, address or phone number for a second emergency contact. Plan of Correction: Provider called the parent and obtained the missing information during the inspection.
