An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:25am-12:20pm. There were 84 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 23 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed playing independently in classroom centers, completing art work, and participating in a music program. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector. Erika Gibson (email@example.com) 703-479-4686
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on medication review, the center did not adhere to their medication policies and procedures. Evidence: An emergency medication observed for Child 5 expired in February 2015 and a medication observed for Child 6 expired in January 2015. Both medications were maintained on site. Plan of Correction: I will call the parents today to have them bring in new medication and I will send the old one home.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J Description: Based on direct observation, medication was not kept in a locked place. Evidence: A staff's medication was observed in an unlocked cabinet in the Two's #2 classroom. Plan of Correction: The staff removed the medication and put in a locked place during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N Description: Based on medication review, medication was kept on site with an expired written authorization for the parent. Evidence: The written medication authorization for Child 6 expired February 2, 2015 and the parent was not notified to pick up the medication within 14 days or to renew the authorization form. Plan of Correction: I will have the parent to complete a new form.
